Dashmool is a combination of 10 herbs that are pacifying to vata dosha. These herbs are used to make certain therapeutic massage oils and they are often taken as a tea for several months before commencing kaya kala therapy. They are especially beneficial to the uterus and lungs and should be considered by people doing pranayama or even nasya treatment.
In addition, exhaustive research at Banaras Hindu University suggests that a strong extraction of dashmool is effective in managing diabetic retinopathy and diabetic neuropathy.
For the custom modifications of dashmool, we are adding two or three herbs to formula. Though these can theoretically be in almost any proportion, my suggestion at this time is to use no more than one-quarter part of each of the additional herbs. By ordering half a pound of each extra herb, one can use half a package to each pound of dashmool. The extra herbs can also be taken separately.
